4. How does Mercy
Airlift received the supplies and equipment needed
for distribution during times of disasters and
emergencies?
Mercy Airlift receives supplies from
different pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, food
companies, manufacturers and suppliers of goods and
equipment needed for relief in disasters and
humanitarian relief. Companies and organizations as
well as our corporate and individual donors assist in
the financial burden of warehousing and transporting
these supplies to the disaster sites.
5. Do the supplies need
to be stored for emergencies?
All collected
supplies are picked up, inventoried and warehoused
in our warehouses until such time as the supplies
are needed. When supplies are shipped out to
different sites, our warehouses are replenished with
additional supplies and readied for shipment.
6. Knowing what
materials and supplies are needed at different
disasters.
At the first notice
of a disaster, personnel at the locations or near
the disaster areas are usually able to let us know
what type of disaster has occurred, and what the
extent or the damage is. Word continually flows to
us as the hours press on and it is clearer as to
what the exact needs are. Mercy Airlift is already
in the planning stages and is aware of the types of
supplies needed to meet the disaster. Mercy Airlift
is in total Operational Mode at this point
continuing to receive updated information from the
field and from the first responders and Mercy
Airlift is then securing the supplies from our
warehouses or we are securing supplies from
additional suppliers.
7. How are the goods
and supplies delivered by Mercy Airlift
Mercy Airlift will
transport the supplies via its own aircraft or will
contract with other air carriers for the
transportation of the supplies. Mercy Airlift will
also engage the services of vessel transporters when
the conditions warrant.
8. How does Mercy
Airlift transport medical and relief personnel?
Medical and relief
personnel as well as general volunteers have been
transported by Mercy Airlift and will continue to be
transported to areas in need. First responder teams
are also sent out via Mercy Airlift equipment or by
commercial means to assess the conditions at the
disaster site.
